About Us
High Rise Pet Sitting was established by Gary Peschken shortly after his family’s move to the Downtown San Diego area in July 2005.

With Gary’s unique balance of pet care and general business experience, High Rise Pet Sitting offers compassionate, professional, and dependable service caring for your pet's needs and your home.

Gary and his wife Ro have two children, Kyle and Erica and a fourteen year old black lab mix named Rikki, who finally lost her battle with complications to diabetes in February 2008.   Gary and his family have always had one or more pets growing up in the New Jersey suburbs.  In July 2005, the family moved to San Diego for Ro’s job.

Prior to his move to the beautiful Marina District of downtown San Diego, Gary worked as a Project Manager for IBM for many years.  Telecommuting from home, he was able to balance his career, family life and of course caring for Rikki.  He was very involved in many community activities, especially athletic programs in which Kyle and Erica participated.  His diverse background also includes positions as Vice President of a Pipeline Rehabilitation Contracting company and as Assistant General Manager for a New York City Video Post Production company.

As Gary’s family was beginning to prepare for their move across country in December, their dog Rikki developed cataracts from her diabetes, causing her to lose her sight.  Gary and Ro elected for Cataract surgery in April of 2005 and Rikki’s sight was amazingly restored.  Her recovery included many weeks of getting used to wearing a cone, taking pills, eye drops, and of course insulin shots to keep her diabetes in check.   Gary spent many hours at the optometrist and veterinarian’s offices in order to help her through her rehab and make sure she was ready for her cross country flight in July.   Rikki has taken well to downtown city life, meeting more dogs here in the past few months than she did in all her years in NJ.

Gary also helped Rikki through a life threatening disease just weeks after the family adopted her as a puppy.  Rikki and six of her sisters all developed a parvovirus infection during their stay at an animal shelter. Thanks to a quick diagnosis and Gary’s ability to provide Rikki with intravenous care at home until her body was able to fight off the potentially deadly infection, she has lived a long and happy life.

As you can see, Gary has many years of diverse pet care in addition to his corporate experience.  Combining these two interests, along with the opportunity to make a career move, Gary has been working closely with a number of experienced Pet Sitters in the downtown San Diego area to develop High Rise Pet Sitting into a company that provides an Ideal Solution to In-Home pet care, tailored to each customer’s personal needs.  Continued education is always valuable, so as a recent graduate of Pet Sitting University, Gary has been exposed to the latest and most up-to-date concepts regarding pet care and running an efficient and professional Pet Sitting business.
